Mattress cleaning
Deep extraction cleaning of mattresses with anti-mite treatment, at your home.

Services / Mattress cleaning
Why a mattress needs cleaning
A person gives off between 200 and 400 millilitres of moisture a night, and around a gram and a half of skin particles. The sheet absorbs some of it. The rest passes through and stays in the mattress.
That is also why dust mites collect in mattresses. Mites do not bite and are not dangerous in themselves, but what they leave behind is among the most common causes of a blocked nose in the morning, sneezing and irritated eyes in otherwise healthy people.
Extraction pulls out a large part of what has built up deep down, not just at the surface. We work both sides, in your home, and by the evening you can sleep on the mattress again.
- We clean both sides, not just the top
- Anti-mite treatment on request
- We remove sweat and bodily fluid marks
- We remove odours with an unperfumed neutraliser
- Ready to sleep on after 5 to 7 hours
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How long does the mattress take to dry?
Usually 5 to 7 hours with good ventilation. So it is best to book us for the first half of the day, so you can sleep on it the same night.
Do you treat both sides?
Yes, as standard. The underside is in contact with the frame and carries a higher damp risk, so treating only the top leaves half the problem.
Can a memory foam mattress be cleaned?
Yes, but with less water and longer extraction. The foam is porous and holds the water, so the usual setting is not right for it.
What is anti-mite treatment?
A residual product applied after the extraction that slows the mites coming back. Worth it for allergy sufferers and children, optional for everyone else.
Do urine marks come out?
Fresh ones almost always. On older ones we work with a neutraliser that breaks down the salts. The mark may lighten without going completely, but the smell usually goes.
Will yellowing from sweat disappear?
It lightens considerably, but a mattress used for years without a protector will not go white again. We say so in advance.
Does it help with allergies?
Usually yes. Extraction takes out a large part of the mites and allergens. The effect holds for six to twelve months, then it is done again.
Should I remove the bedding?
Yes, take off the sheet and protector before we arrive. If the protector is washable we can treat it separately.
Can I sleep on it the same night?
Yes, if the work is in the morning and the room is aired. Before we leave, we check that it is dry.
Do you treat mattresses in hotels?
Yes, we work with hotels and guest houses, usually out of season or on low-occupancy days.
Is there a minimum booking?
Yes, €25. For a single child's mattress it works out better to combine it with another service.
Will there be a smell of product afterwards?
No. We use unperfumed neutralisers. While the mattress dries there is a faint damp smell, but it goes completely.
Can it be combined with sofa cleaning?
Yes, and it is a common request. In one visit it works out cheaper than two separate ones.
What about blood marks?
Treated with cold water and an appropriate product. Fresh blood almost always lifts, old blood rarely does completely.
Do you work at weekends?
Yes, Saturday is a working day for us. Sunday by prior arrangement.
How is payment handled and do you invoice?
Cash once you have seen the work, or by bank transfer. We issue invoices on request.
What if the mattress has mould?
If the mould is only on the cover we treat it. If it has penetrated the filling we will not remove it, and we will advise replacement rather than take your money.
What if I am not happy?
Tell us within 24 hours and we come back free of charge. If the result genuinely cannot be made better, we tell you that at the inspection.
