Deep cleaning

Thorough cleaning of every room, including the places nobody usually reaches.

What is included in a deep clean

A deep clean reaches the places a regular clean misses: the grease on the cupboards above the hob, the limescale in the grout, the dust behind the radiators and the marks on the window frames.

We work from the inside out: cupboards and appliances first, then surfaces, floors last. In a one-bedroom flat, two people usually work between 5 and 7 hours.

It is most often booked before moving into a new home, at the end of a tenancy, before or after the holidays, and once a year as maintenance.

  • Appliance interiors, oven, fridge, microwave
  • Bathroom and kitchen grout treated for limescale and mould
  • Window frames, sills and blinds
  • Cupboards inside and out
  • We work in twos, so it is done in a day

A deep clean is priced per square metre because the tasks are the same in every home. In a more neglected property, only the hours change.

How a deep clean differs from a regular one

A deep clean is a thorough one-off; regular cleaning keeps up the result.

Only in a deep clean

  • Appliance interiors, oven, fridge, microwave
  • Cupboards inside, on top and behind
  • Grout treated for mould and limescale
  • Window frames, sills, blinds and radiators
  • Light fittings and ventilation grilles
  • Work behind and under movable furniture

What is not included

  • Construction dust and paint marks, that is post-renovation cleaning
  • Upholstery, mattress and carpet cleaning, a separate service
  • External window cleaning above the first floor
  • Tidying and putting away personal belongings
  • Removal of bulky waste
  • Repairs and minor fixes

Plenty of clients book upholstery cleaning for the same day, and the two services together are discounted.

How the day runs

Walkthrough and preparation

We go round the property together, look at the problem areas and agree which cupboards we open and which we leave alone. Sensitive surfaces are covered.

15-20 minutes

Appliances and soaking

The oven, the extractor filters and the grout go first, because the product needs time to sit. While it works, the team is busy elsewhere, so no time is lost.

first hour

Cupboards and surfaces, top down

High before low: wardrobe tops, lighting, cupboard interiors, then worktops and furniture. Whatever falls to the floor is collected in the next stage.

2-3 hours

Bathroom and kitchen in depth

The slowest part of the day. Grout, limescale, traps, tiling to full height.

1.5-2 hours

Floors and walkthrough

Vacuuming, wet cleaning, the waste taken out, and a walk round together. If anything is not to your liking, we put it right on the spot.

Why it is worth doing once a year

You start from clean

After a deep clean, regular upkeep takes half the time. The cost pays for itself within a few months of a contract.

Mould is treated in depth

Bathroom grout is cleaned with a product that penetrates in depth, rather than bleaching the surface white for a short while.

Safe to be in right away

Even on the worst of it we use products that do not need long airing. You can come home the same evening.

Appliances are dismantled

Oven shelves and glass and extractor filters all come out and are cleaned separately, rather than wiped from the outside.

Within a single day

We work as a team so the job does not drag on for days. Properties up to 120 m² finish within the working day.

A walkthrough at the end

Before we leave, we go round the property with you. If you spot something, we put it right there and then, not at a later visit.

If you are moving out of a rental

Deposit disputes usually start with the cleaning. Ask us and we will give you a record of the work done, with photographs you can show your landlord.

Book the clean after you have moved your things out, not before. An empty property cleans better and costs less.

„They deep cleaned a flat that had been rented out for six years. Honestly, I did not believe the bathroom could come back to that state without replacing the grout.“

Valentina K., client in Lozenets, two-bedroom flat

Worth knowing

When to book one

There are four usual moments: before moving into a new home, at the end of a tenancy, before a big family gathering, and once a year as maintenance, usually early spring or the end of the heating season, when the radiators and window frames have collected the most.

If a home has not had a deep clean in two years or more, the first visit usually takes longer. That is why the inspection is free: we would rather see with our own eyes how much work there is and give you an accurate price than leave you with a surprise later.

What comes right and what does not

Limescale, grease and surface mould come out in most cases. But there is damage no product will fix: silicone that has yellowed and degraded is replaced, not cleaned; a scratched enamel bath is not restored by cleaning; where mould has got into the grout itself, the grout will lighten but will not come back to white.

At the inspection we tell you which of these we can see in your home, so there are no surprises later.

Deep cleaning and upholstery on the same day

  • Upholstery is cleaned after the deep clean, never before it, otherwise dust settles on damp fabric
  • A sofa dries in 4-8 hours, so the booking is for the first half of the day
  • The two services together save a visit and are discounted
  • For allergy sufferers, the two together do noticeably more than either service on its own

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does a deep clean take?

For a one-bedroom flat, usually 5-7 hours with a team of two. Larger or heavily soiled properties take longer, and we agree that at the inspection.

Does it include windows?

Yes, from the inside: frames, glass and sills. If the flat is on a high floor, cleaning the outside needs special equipment and is priced separately.

How is this different from post-renovation cleaning?

After building work there is construction dust, paint, silicone and plaster. Those need different equipment and more passes. If you have had work done recently, the service you need is post-renovation cleaning.

Do I need to be there all day?

No. Being there at the start for the walkthrough and at the end, when we go round together, is enough. Many clients leave a key and come back in the evening.

Will delicate surfaces be damaged?

No. Before we start we ask about the materials: natural stone, solid wood, matt paint, brass. We pick the products to match, and if in doubt we test somewhere hidden.

Can you do just the kitchen and bathroom?

Yes. It is a common request and works out considerably cheaper than the whole property. The price is per room rather than per square metre.

What should I do before you arrive?

Put away personal belongings and remove anything you are throwing out. You do not need to move furniture. That is our job.
